Online School Community

iQ Academy connects students, teachers, and parents.

Grades K–5

iQ Academy families in our new elementary school program gain access to K¹²’s robust and dynamic online school community. Highlights include:

  • The thebigthinK¹² is an online community designed to bring together our families and school to share information and resources such as school calendars, handbooks, and events, as well as teacher information and schedules. Think of the school community on thebigthinK¹² as "the school office"—the place to find information and documents specific to the school.
  • The Parents' Lounge is a community available to our Learning Coaches within thebigthinK¹². Created exclusively for parents, teachers and school administrators, it is a powerful way to connect with other parents and share experiences, information, and advice. Think of the Parents' Lounge as "the social center" — the place to go when you are looking to connect with other virtual school families, both locally and globally, to find answers to your questions.
  • Clubs: Once you become enrolled, you can visit thebigthinK¹² to learn more about our clubs and meeting times, and the amazing teacher sponsors who help to manage them. Also, additional clubs are always added throughout the year, as well as new meeting dates and times. Some of the clubs we’ve recently offered for elementary school kids include: Story Time, Music Club, Children’s Theater, Book Buddies, Math Club, and Volunteer Club.

Be sure to ask an enrollment counselor about all the school community opportunities available to K–5 families.

Grades 6–12

iQ Academy makes it easy to be part of a thriving online school community by enabling students and families to make new friends and meet up with old ones. Our middle and high school programs include:

  • A variety of schoolwide and national iQ clubs that give students a nationwide community of friends, classmates and teachers
  • Access to the iQuad community, an iQ members-only social network comprised of students, parents, teachers, and staff
  • Participation in fun social and extracurricular events throughout the area
  • College placement advice, job and career counseling, and community volunteering opportunities

Our learning model allows for both one-to-one interaction between teachers and students, and dynamic teacher-moderated student group discussions. Teachers, academic advisors, and school counselor are easily accessible via telephone and e-mail and you can communicate with other students. Parents are encouraged to be involved in their student's education, and we keep them up to date with regular progress reports, real-time assignment logs, and conferences with our counselors. Parents can also network with other families to talk about their experiences.
